Jentery Michael Farmer
October 10, 1993 - April 24, 2021
Jentery was compassionate, kind, loving, generous, fun & convicted in his beliefs. He wore a contagious smile every minute of everyday & he had the best laugh. He saw beauty & amazement in everything, even in his challenges. He was an old soul with a pure heart. He loved God & his family & every one of his friends in a remarkable way that made everyone he engaged with want to be better. He was a natural leader with a deep passion for contributing to the betterment of his community and organizations that enhanced other's lives and provided development and mentorship. He was genuine. He was one of a kind. He left a legacy that lives on through the light he spread and the countless people he positively impacted in his short 27 years. It has been said by many that he did more good in our world than most people will do in their lifetime.

"Jentery's character exceeded what words I can put forth. For my part, I have known Jentery since he joined the High School Key Club (Swartz Creek Kiwanis) in 2008. I have always found him to be a role model for those young and old because of his indefatigable optimism, kind heart, and sincere nature. He was a very committed council member and planning commission member that always put others and the community above himself. His loss is titanic to those that knew him personally, and the void left in the community leadership will be felt forever, as I am certain he was destined to provide many great things to his town."
Adam Zettel
City Manager, Swartz Creek
"A person who, from a very young age, had a heart for serving the people he lived among and making Swartz Creek a much better place to live. Hopefully, his attitude and his willingness to serve this community will be an inspiration to others."
Mayor David Krueger
City of Swartz Creek
“Jentery was just so full of life, so happy. He just had a really positive outlook on everything. He lit up our office every day. He was never in a bad mood. Everyone loved to be around him. He was very inclusive of everyone. When people started working here, he would just call them at random and ask how it was going. He was very caring, and you just don’t find people like that anymore. He genuinely cared, and that’s rare in this world.”
Joanie O’Sullivan-Butler

"The four core values of the YMCA are Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. I think above all others, Jentery personified the very definition of caring. He was always looking to put others before himself and help wherever and whoever he could. Jentery was quick to pay a compliment and you knew it was sincere. Even when he was a seasonal staff member, he was always thinking of how we could serve our campers and families better. I met with him on multiple occasions about new program ideas and proposals that he had for improving or adding to our program options. He was always so thoughtful, and he is greatly missed! Jentery lived the core values of the YMCA, and he was a great example of selfless dedication to his friends, family, and community."
Brandon Dreffs
Executive Director, YMCA Camp Copneconic
"He was one of a kind. Jentery wore his love for his family, friends and community on his sleeve. It was very evident; he was never shy about sharing that. That’s something we can all take and remember. He enjoyed life, enjoyed people, and that was quite evident in his smile. If he was working his tail off at Hometown Days, he still had that little grin of his … whatever he was doing, because he was enjoying it, enjoying being around the people and giving back to his community. He had great plans for making Swartz Creek a beautiful community for all to enjoy and love. This was his community, where he grew up and where he lived and wanted to do everything he could to make it better for everyone here. We all saw and knew the potential he had to do great things."
John Knickerbocker
City of Swartz Creek Resident
I have known Jentery since he was in elementary school with my son. He has always been the kindest soul with a heart of gold. He gave so much to his community. I was involved with him with Kiwanis along with Swartz Creek Hometown Days. The excitement he had for both of these non-profits was priceless. The smile he had prior to festival was contagious. He was a hard worker for all the organizations he belonged to. I miss him dearly, he will always have a special place in my heart.
